GALLI PRODUCE NEWSLETTER
Yes! It is really Summertime!
California avocados could be finished by mid July.
We have been hesitant to bring in Peruvian fruit until now. The price point on CA product is sky high.
We will condition Peruvians for sale next week.
Look for some XL loose Hydroponic Tomatoes from Houwellings out of Camario California. They may be a bit mixed in size but they have good color and flavor.
IMore players are coming to market albeit a little late and prices are coming down.
White and Yellow Peaches
White and Yellow NectarinesApricots
Plums: Not seeing anything stellar yet. I would say a few weeks out.
Navel Oranges: This IS the last hurrah for Navels. I have never thought that Valencia Oranges are a viable hand fruit. More of a juicing orange in my opinion.
The Sand Pear variety is mildly sweet with a vanilla flavor and look great.
MELONS and TOMATOES
Our topsy turvey quality rise seems tobe over with Perry Farms out of Manteca starting to ship.
Varietal melons such as Hami, Santa Claus and crenshaws are in!
We asre still subbing Loose Hydroponic slicing tomatoes from time to time. Color and flavor has been much better than regular production fruit. No real Local Tomatoes to speak of.
All pretty much California fruit at this time with decent plavor. The recent warm flash will sweeten them up quick!
