GALLI PRODUCE NEWSLETTER

05/14/19

SUMMERRY? SUMMERISH? Some of the time!!!

AVOCADOS;
No bad news here as California and Mexico are packing together.

Look for some loose Hydroponic Tomatoesfrom Houwellings out of Camario California. They may be a bit mixed in size but they have good color and flavor.

STONEFRUIT:
I know people get tired of the same old thing and look forward to the stone fruit season. As of now only a few growers are in and the prices are high. Available are White Nectarines, White Peaches, few Yellow Peaches, Cherries and Apricots. With the rain coming, the longer you can hold out the better .  We will carry them all in a small way

Navel Oranges: Outstanding flavor as the season winds down. The Late Lane variety signals the last of the harvests. Blood Oranges and Cara Cara’s will be around for a couple more weeks.

ASIAN PEARS:
The Shandong variety are visually beautiful with a mild vanilla like flavor. The Asian Pear has come off a short gap. Still a nice piece of fruit with good eye appeal.

WATERMELONS
Still iffy on quality, pretty much Mexican and Off shore fruit in the Melon category . Arizona Melons should pop in any week now. Look for improved flavors!

Tomatoes~
We have been subbing Loose Hydroponic slicing tomatoes from time to time. Color and flavor has been much better than regular production fruit. No real Local Tomatoes to speak of.
